These two music stories are both ones we would normally bring you in the end of week round up, but as they both occur before Sunday, we decided to bring them to you in this quick update. First up, you may be aware that BBC Radio 6 Music are celebrating 10 years of broadcasting, and as such Craig has been doing the rounds promoting the fact of such highbrow music discussion shows as BBC Breakfast and loose Women. There are a series of events on to celebrate the anniversary, and this includes one tomorrow in London at the Southbank Centre. While the live performances in the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room are now both sold out, there will also be a variety of 6 Music presenters DJing in the Front Room, including Craig. Entry is free, but restricted on a first come first served basis. As capacity is strictly limited, there is a possibility that you may not get in so please take this into account when deciding whether to come. You can find more about the event, and others to celebrate the anniversary on the 6 Music site here.
In other news, this Saturday on Classic FM Howard Goodall’s show will be dedicated to his favourite Sci-Fi themes, which according to his twitter account, will feature Red Dwarf
On my @classicfm scifi music show this Sat I’m playing my @RedDwarfHQ Series 1 Opening theme and the classical piece that inspired it..
You can hear ‘Saturday Night at the Movies with Howard Goodall’ at 17:00 on Classic FM across the UK on frequencies between 99.9 MHz and 101.9 MHz FM, and online on the Classic FM site.
On a related note, Howard also went on to say:
Talking of @RedDwarfHQ I am thinking of making digital remasters of the analogue recordings of the original themes for download. Good idea?
This is certainly something I, and I’m sure a fair few of the rest of you, would love to see. It’s been great having the music cues etc. on the DVDs, but a properly cleaned up remastering of the themes would be most welcome. Here’s hoping he goes through with that plan.
